Frequently Asked Questions

With thousands of travel sites on the web, why should I use TravelTeam.com?

  • TravelTeam.com is the website owned by The Travel Team, Inc. a travel agency/airfare consolidator/airline wholesaler.  We were established in 1978 and have had the same owner for over 30 years; proof that (unlike many travel websites) we will not be "here today, gone tomorrow."
  • Plus, unlike the "big guys" and impersonal online booking engines, we have a friendly, helpful staff who is always willing to answer any of your questions.  Call to speak to an agent during our regular business hours: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:30pm, Saturday 9:00am - 2:00pm (PST).  1.800.788.0829.

Check out our blog, where we discuss some of the drawbacks to user-generated websites.

Where is your office located?

  • Our office is in Seattle, WA, on the ship canal, between the neighborhoods of Fremont and Queen Anne.

Who are your clients?

  • Though our office is in the Pacific Northwest, due to our strong online presence, our clients are from all over the United States and Canada: from Charlotte, NC to Houston, TX to Minneapolis, MN to Toronto, ON.  We even have some clients from Australia and New Zealand!

Is it true that Rick Steves was one of your clients?

  • Yes.  Rick Steves - founder of Europe Through the Back Door - booked his airline tickets through us for over 2 decades for his travels to Europe and around the world.

Does Travel Team offer airfares that do not appear on TravelTeam.com?

  • Because of airline regulations, we sometimes are unable to list all of our best rates on our website, which is why it is very important to always call our office and talk over your itinerary with an agent prior to purchasing any air tickets.  Our experienced agents can give you helpful insider itinerary hints that can save you money.

Why is it that Travel Team can sell airline tickets at such low prices?

  • Every year, The Travel Team sells thousands of airline tickets to travelers.  Because of our sales volume and prefered relationships with the airlines, we are able to offer the lowest airfares in the industry.

Will I actually talk to a person when I call The Travel Team?

  • Of course!  During regular business hours, all calls are answered by one of our experienced travel agents.  Our agents have been in the industry for an average of over 10 years and have visited all corners of the globe.  You can be sure that whoever you talk to at The Travel Team will have the knowledge and expertise you deserve in a travel agent.  We have been planning vacations for over 30 years and have sent hundreds of thousands of people all over the world, on all types of travel adventures.

One of our customers said it best: "You don't have to buy your airline tickets from The Travel Team, but if you don't, try not to sit next to someone who did!"

The Difference I Make:

It's important to me to take the time to get to know my clients.  It's through talking over likes and dislikes, preferences, budgets, desired experience and more, that I am able to steer my clients in the direction I think would best suit them.

Travel Highlights:

  • Hiking north of the Arctic Circle in Norway at midnight, when the sky is still lit by the midnight sun.  Snacking on wild blueberries along the way.
  • Long-lining for cod in the North Sea off the coast of Norway, netting a huge fish that we ate for the fifth meal of the day.
  • Dining at a cliff-top restaurant on the Algarve Coast of Portugal: fresh fish and vino verde, lovely warm Portugese  people, the sea air, the summer warmth,  Portugese Fado music playing nearby - it was intoxicating.
  • Going on the creepy - but incredibly fascinating - "Jack the Ripper" walking tour in East London, at night, with my son

 Testimonial:

"You did exceptionally well with all our connections and reservations."

My most memorable travel experiences:

It's very hard, of course, to pick favorite experiences when we travel this world, but the first things that come to mind when someone asks me mine are 1) seeing the Matterhorn and 2) going to Ireland.  They are my favorites because they were the fulfillment of childhood dreams.  That is the best advice I can offer as a travel agent: don't always do what a guidebook or someone who's been there tells you to do.  Do the things and visit the places you've always dreamed of.  They are the experiences you will remember the most!

Testimonial:

"Your plan was great...everything went smooth."

Top Travel Highlight:

Walking along the passerelle/catwalks at Iguazu Falls, Argentina: Meandering through the rainforest, you're greeted by monkeys and toucan birds before reaching the imposing lookout point where the slow moving Iguazu River roars to its dramatic descent.

Why I love being a Travel Agent:

I've learned that every place on the globe has something special and unique to offer the curious-minded traveler, and I enjoy helping others discover the joyous adventure that travel brings.

Testimonial:

"After talking to me for less than 15 minutes, (you) have put together a package within 24 hours and with a price tag we can afford..."

The difference I make:

I took a call from a worker at the traveler's aid station at Denver International Airport.  A passenger had booked his ticket over the internet and was trying to travel from Rome, Italy to Sydney, Australia. Instead, his ticket was booked from Rome to Sydney, Nebraska.  Denver was the closest airport to Sydney, Nebraska, so he was routed there.  Since he booked his ticket over the internet, there was no agent to tell him he was booking to the wrong city.  In an effort to assist this stranded gentleman, the traveler's aid worker called Travel Team.  I was able to rebook his ticket to Sydney and save his vacation. He was extremely grateful.

Testimonial:

"...persistant efforts to provide the very best service"

Why I can't stop traveling:

I have been traveling the world for over 40 years!  I have had many wonderful experiences on 6 continents (never been to Antarctica, yet, but someday!)  It seems that as I cross off another city I add another 10 new cities to my travel list.  Do you have the same problem?

How do I make a difference?

I've been in the industry for over 30 years, traveling extensively and collecting worldwide travel contacts.  If I - personally - haven't been to your dream destination, I have a contact that knows it intimately.  Together, my colleagues and I have passengers departing on a daily basis throughout the world.  I have the experience and connections to plan your perfect vacation!

Testimonial:

"...so magnificent and memorable beyond words!"

Most rewarding part of my job:

No matter how big or small the trip, when someone is so excited by something I've put together for them, even if it's just a good airfare deal, that is what keeps me excited about my job.  Their excitement in doing something they have always wanted to do, and the fact that I am helping them achieve that, that's what it's all about for me.  It's infectious!  It keeps the reasons why I traveled as much as I did so fresh in my mind, even years later.

Testimonial:

"...our trip went like clockwork...We were very pleased and will certainly recommend you in the future."
