Daily Itinerary Day 1 - Arrive Christchurch: Welcome to Christchurch, New Zealand largest city on the South Island.  Tour the cathedral, visit the Art Gallery or Canterbury Museum, view the Botanic Gardens or see many of the world's endangered animals at the Orana Wildlife Park.  Spend your evening dining at one of Christchurch's premier restaurants. Day 2 - Christchurch to Dunedin: Cross the Canterbury Plains, swinging by Mt Cook, on your way to Dunedin.  This evening, take time to enjoy the city's impressive architecture, considered some of the best in New Zealand. Day 3 - Dunedin: Board a double decker bus for a morning tour of Dunedin's historic sights.  The afternoon includes a tour of the Otago Peninsula, including a visit to the Royal Albatross Colony (seasonal). Day 4 - Dunedin to Queenstown: Board the Taieri Gorge train to Pukerangi.*  Along the trip, you'll see magnificent landscapes, ending the day in beautiful Queenstown. Day 5 - Milford Sound Cruise: Journey past Lake Wakatipu to Te Anau, from where you will enter the Fiordland National Park.  Spend the day on the Milford Sound Red Boat Cruise, exploring the breathtaking fiord. Day 6 - Queenstown:  Enjoy Queenstown at leisure.  Explore the city, spend time out on the lake, or travel to a nearby vineyard.  Day 7 - Queenstown to Franz Josef: View the West Coast of New Zealand as you travel through the Haast Pass to Franz Josef, at the western foot of Mt. Cook.  Enjoy Franz Josef Glacier at leisure.  Walk the glacier valley or take a helicopter up for truly amazing views.  Day 8 - Franz Josef to Christchurch, via TranzAlpine Train: Journey to Greymouth where you will catch the TranzAlpine scenic train, traveling across the Southern Alps and Canterbury Plains, concluding your tour in Christchurch.
